Sep. 3--Rapid sales growth in its low-end customer segment has prompted cellular operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) to push further into the untapped grass-roots market in rural areas this year to retain the current size of its subscriber base.
About 3.7 million people have signed up for the company's Sawasdee prepaid service since its inception in mid-May, bringing its total prepaid subscribers to exceed 13 million.
