Sep. 2--General Chuchart Promprasit, a retired army communications officer, was voted chairman of the newly formed seven-member National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) yesterday.
Sources said that three candidates had entered the race for the chairmanship -- Gen Chuchart; Artorn Chatawimol, a professor at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok; and Sethaporn Kusripitak, a former director-general of the Post and Telegraph Department.
Gen Chuchart, 63, earlier won 168 votes from the 200-member Senate last week, the highest of all candidates.
