Sep. 1--NEW DELHI -- Thailand and India have signed a protocol to implement the early-harvest scheme under their broader free trade area (FTA) agreement for gradual elimination of import tariffs on a common list of 82 items, starting today.

The import duties on products on the fast-track list will be halved immediately today, and then cut by 75 percent after a year of implementation before being lifted altogether within two years.

The list covers approximately 7 percent of bilateral trade and includes items that are of export interest to both countries. They include: textiles, auto parts, plastic products, seafood and ...
