Sep. 1--Thai garment and textile exporters should seek local and regional partners to increase their competitiveness ahead of the end of the global trade quota system early next year, according to Phongsak Assakul, the president of the Thai Textile Manufacturing Association.
The removal of 30-year-old global quota system on Jan 1 will reshape the world garment and textile trade. Exporting countries with quota allocations, including Thailand, will no longer be assured priority as sources of clothing and fabric by major importing markets such as the United States, the European Union and Japan.
