Sep. 1--The Board of Investment (BoI) has abolished export requirements as key condition for projects seeking promotional privileges in accord with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) agreement on subsidies and countervailing measures.

The decision would not affect the investment environment in Thailand because authorities and businesses have been preparing gradually for the inevitable end of the conditions, said Somphong Wanapha, the BoI secretary-general.

The BoI, he said, had stopped offering incentives linked to exporting for almost investment projects since August 2000 while it studied the impact on the automobile ...
