Aug. 27--ASBURY PARK, N.J. -- The city plans to go out to bid Sept. 7 on a new water park to be built this fall in the Bangs Avenue recreation area between the middle school and Bangs Avenue Elementary School.
The city received an $800,000 state Green Acres grant and loan, which will be the main source of funds for the water park and a new restroom building and small gazebo, city officials said.
City Engineer Bryant Grant said the park will have water spray equipment including a "car wash" feature. Construction is anticipated to begin in October, he said.
