2004 SEP 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Genetronics Biomedical Corp.Bernie Hertel, +1-858-410-3101
Genetronics Biomedical Corp. (GEB), a late-stage developer of cancer and other therapies using electroporation-enabled delivery of drugs, DNA vaccines, and genes, announced a study assessing the clinical utility of an electroporation-mediated method for delivering DNA in humans without anesthesia showed this method was safe and tolerable.
The results of this Investigational Review board-approved pilot study, which measured pain response in healthy volunteers using an electrical pulse suitable for DNA delivery using Genetronics' MedPulser DNA Delivery System, support electroporation as a potentially attractive DNA delivery method for use in humans to treat serious or life-threatening diseases.
The results were documented in a paper entitled "Assessment of the Pain Associated with Electroporation in Healthy Volunteers" and presented at the Gordon Research Conference on Bioelectrochemistry in July 2004.
