More prime waterfront land could be opened up for development at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum.

The board that oversees the state-run visitor attraction last week voted in favor of seeking proposals from land planning consultants to determine the highest and best uses for two undeveloped parcels roughly between the Yorktown aircraft carrier and the Motley Rice law firm's headquarters.

The two properties are on high land and total slightly more than eight acres.

The board also wants to see whether it makes sense to relocate a large portion of the museum's 35-acre parking area farther inland to open up more waterfront real estate.
