Aug. 26--LEXINGTON, N.C. -- Month after month, Davidson County furniture makers handed out pink slips, but now a West Coast furniture company interested in moving to North Carolina may bring back some paychecks.

Steve Googe, the director of the county's economic-development commission, has asked county commissioners for a Sept. 14 public hearing to discuss incentives the county may offer to the furniture maker.

County officials will also consider incentives that night for a racing-technology company Googe is trying to bring to a Lexington City building.
