Cal's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1997 came to a quick end on Friday because Fresno State's defensive pressure caused Ben Braun's offensive ballet to look more like the funky chicken. The Bears simply had no rhythm in the Big Dance.
Fresno State's 82-70 victory over Cal in their South Regional game at The Pyramid was accomplished because coach Jerry Tarkanian's defensive game plan didn't allow the Bears a moment to think at any time, opening tap to final buzzer.
The Bulldogs picked up the Bears at the half-court line, then shadowed them every step of the way.
