EDMONTON, Alberta _ The Wild had no business being in a game that had huge playoff implications for the Edmonton Oilers.

The task for the Oilers was simple: Win and they were guaranteed a spot in the Western Conference playoffs.

Instead of being sacrificial lambs, the Wild played the role of spoilers and made Edmonton's task difficult.

The 2-2 tie in front of a sellout crowd of 17,100 at Skyreach Centre meant that the Oilers probably will need to earn a point in their finale Saturday at Vancouver to make the playoffs.

The Wild gained a measure of satisfaction even though their winless streak reached 12 games. Goalie Jamie McLennan was steady in nets with 41 saves.
