Houston _ Valerio De Los Santos' second offering to Houston first baseman Jeff Bagwell on Tuesday was the last pitch De Los Santos will throw this season. The 25-year-old left-hander, who felt something pop in his left elbow on his first pitch to Bagwell in the seventh, has a torn ulnar collateral ligament that will require "Tommy John" reconstructive surgery.
"They said it's 90% torn," Brewers manager Davey Lopes said. "He's got a long road ahead of him."
