Mar. 7--Another icon of the Hoffman family is closing shop.

Hoffman's Ltd., a high-end clothing and gift store off Route 9 in Latham that drew customers from as far away as New Jersey, is going out of business. Robert Hoffman, the 37-year-old store's owner, said the decision came reluctantly.

"I'm sad about closing down; over the years I've met so many fine people. (But) I'm turning 70 this year and my wife is not too far behind me," Hoffman said Tuesday from the store, where he is preparing for a March 31 auction of antiques, decorations and store fixtures.

This is the third business in the Hoffmans' Route 9 nexus …
