Britain's Marconi Communications Eyes Further Expansion.

Mar. 15--Marconi Communications, the global telecommunications and network equipment company in Marshall, is considering another expansion.

The British company has been discussing that possibility with state and Allegheny County officials. Allegheny County Executive Jim Roddey last week declined to discuss any talks, as did Gov. Tom Ridge spokesman Steve Aaron.

"We would obviously love to see them expand their presence here," Aaron said. "What role the state might play in something like that, it is too soon to say."

Marconi spokeswoman Erin Sammartino also declined comment.
