Trevose, Pa., Electronic Components Maker Expects Reduced Earnings.

Mar. 17--Technitrol Inc., following recent announcements of earnings shortfalls and job cutbacks by major customers, such as Cisco Systems Inc., said it expects 2001 earnings to be 38 percent lower than it had estimated late last year.

The Trevose firm gets two-thirds of its revenues from the sale of electronic components to technology companies that were going gangbusters over the last couple of years. Now those network equipment suppliers are reeling from an abrupt slowdown in technology spending that began in December.
