Mar. 25--Tom Barnhouse, a Richardson attorney who prepares wills, estates and trusts, says he frequently sees clients who are beginning to recognize that financial planning isn't just for the privileged.
"They've gotten by without professional help, and sometimes they don't realize they need help," he says. "In some cases, they don't realize how wealthy they've become; they started out making a modest income and now they've accumulated wealth."
Once a component of estate law and financial planning, estate planning is slowly becoming its own specialty as personal wealth -- particularly among baby boomers -- increases.
According to the National Association of Estate Planners and Councils Web site, there are 52 accredited estate planners in the Dallas area and 83 in Texas.
