Study: Buffalo, N.Y.-Area Firms Struggle to Fill Jobs Openings.

Apr. 18--Despite relatively weak job growth in the Buffalo area, employers continued to have difficulty filling many job openings last fall, according to a survey by WNY Works, a collaboration between the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and the Amherst and Niagara Falls chambers of commerce.

Respondents in the October survey said 55 percent of their openings were difficult to fill. The survey included results from 1,500 employers who were members of the organizations.

Employers surveyed in Erie and Niagara counties said that the most numerous jobs available were for machinists and production workers, with 268 full-time openings. …
