Apr. 23--Most of the lawyers who worked in Saperston & Day's insurance defense practice have left the Buffalo law firm to form their own practice.

The departure of 13 of the lawyers from the insurance defense practice, including nine partners, reduces the number of attorneys at Saperston & Day's Buffalo office to 22 from 35, said William G. Gandy, Saperston & Day's managing partner.

"It's a self-contained unit in some respects," Gandy said Friday. "They represent the majority of that business."
