May 8--PEORIA, Ill.--These students brewed beer and received a prize for it.

A team of six students from John Wood Community College in Quincy shared a $2,000 third prize for "Soy Suds, America's Cool Bean Beer," in a contest designed to see what new soybean ideas Illinois college students can come with.

They came up with a beer that compared favorably with Sam Adams Pale Ale, said faculty advisor Mark Moore, a chemistry professor.

Contest sponsors, the Illinois Soybean Association and Illinois Soybean Checkoff Board, announced three winners today that, along with soy beer, included the $5,000 first-prize winner, a soy …
