April Home Sales Fall, Listings Rise in Central Texas.

May 23--Home sales in Central Texas declined 9 percent in April from the same month a year ago, but the number of listings jumped nearly 107 percent.

Real estate agents say the latest figures from the Austin Board of Realtors point to a changing market.

"I would consider it transitioning back to normal," said Tom Polk, chairman of the Austin Board of Realtors. "Sales are tracking very closely to 1999 levels, and 1999 was a hot year. In Austin, hot may be normal. Last year was sizzling."

Sharon Smith, president of the board of AvenueOne Properties Inc. agreed.
