Jun. 7--Centralia officials want to build roads and extend sewer lines to help a local company realize its goal of quadrupling in size, but the price is just too high.

Enter the Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission. Though the group is better known for transportation planning, it also exists to help member communities win grants to finance important projects.

For Centralia, members of the commission staff are writing an application for a $200,000 Community Development Block Grant. If approved, the money would pay for new sewer lines and roads in northeast Centralia, where officials hope to establish a new industrial park. …
