Jun. 1--Hundreds of Head Start workers across San Joaquin County turned out to vote for union representation Thursday, claiming management is insensitive to problems created by woefully short-staffed programs.
Service Employees International Union Local 790 in Stockton is attempting to organize more than 400 employees at about 60 sites in the county, including teachers, teacher aides, case workers, supervisors, bus drivers and kitchen workers.
The results of the vote, which will extended into the evening, could not be determined by press time.
