New York Board Awards Back Pay to Four Former Mortgage Lender Employees.

Jun. 8--The state Department of Labor's Industrial Board of Appeals has issued its decision on a wage order lodged against National Finance Corp., the former Halfmoon-based mortgage lender that closed down a few days before Christmas 1999, leaving hundreds of employees without jobs or back pay.

The total in back wages, vacation pay and bonuses to be awarded to four former NFC employees is $4,813.79 -- significantly less than what they had requested.

The board's findings were based on a hearing held in January. Right before the hearing, 82 of the 88 claimants settled with NFC for a total of $51,484.02. Six other employees …
