The enthusiastic embrace of the Internet by America's youth is fundamentally changing the way they handle personal relationships, define their culture and learn about the wider world, a comprehensive new survey of online usage by teens has found. Reflecting teens' lives, the portrait by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, released Wednesday, is complicated, highlighting the advantages of growing up in a wired world -- as well as the pitfalls.
And the findings pose intriguing questions about how this new generation, which relies heavily on instant messaging technology to interact, will change the dynamics of communications at work and home.
