SunTrust Wins One, Loses One in Fight for Wachovia in North Carolina.

Jun. 15--SunTrust Banks took one step forward and one step back Thursday in the fight for Wachovia.

A North Carolina Business Court judge ruled in favor of SunTrust Banks, granting the Atlanta-based company access to the list of Wachovia's individual shareholders.

Wachovia, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., must turn over the list of 125,000 names by Wednesday said Barry Koling, SunTrust Banks spokesman.

Having the list will make it "less cumbersome" for SunTrust Banks to contact Wachovia's shareholders and persuade them to vote down First Union's friendly deal, Koling said. The polls close on Aug. 3 at the special …
