Jun. 26--Advantage Schools Inc., a for-profit company that has stumbled educationally and financially in running more than a dozen charter schools nationwide, yesterday fired 40 of the 80 workers at its Boston headquarters.
The company also is facing trouble on another front: Disappointed by the latest scores on Texas's statewide test, the Advantage school in Dallas is soliciting proposals from other management companies. And the other three Advantage schools in that state may follow suit this week.
