Jun. 28--Mecklenburg County commissioners today will decide their next step in a years-long squabble with Time Warner Cable over a promised communications network county officials say the company never delivered.
Mecklenburg officials contend the company failed to live up to its obligation in a 1982 franchise agreement to build a system to connect schools and government buildings. Time Warner officials say they are confident they are in compliance with their franchise agreement.
The dispute has been a central issue in seven years of negotiations to renew Time Warner's franchise to serve 20,000 subscribers of unincorporated Mecklenburg County.
