Western New York Firms Receive over $3 Million from State for Worker Training.

Jul. 13--Western New York manufacturers will receive a total of more than $3 million in state grants to support worker training.

Statewide, a total of $15.6 million in training grants will go to a total of 83 employers. The funds are administered by the state Department of Labor.

MedSource Technologies in Orchard Park will use its $35,000 grant mainly to train its employees in the techniques of "lean manufacturing," which is designed to make companies more productive, said Jim Hillman, vice president and general manager of the plant.
