Sales declines in the monthly music market have prompted the market leader Q to relaunch with its September issue. Ahead of this revamp, Q continued its decline, falling 12.6 per cent year on year.
Marcus Rich, the managing director of Emap Performance, says: 'Q came from the CD revolution but now people access music differently. The magazine is as passionate as ever, but we're aligning it in a way that's appropriate for the market.'
In the weekly sector, Emap's Kerrang! dwindled 11 per cent year on year, as nu-metal became old hat. Meanwhile, despite IPC's New Musical Express having a strong web presence, the paper version is down 3.4 per cent year on year. …
