BOOK WORTH READING:
Ready for a book that will start your engines? "Stock Car Kings" explains the basics of NASCAR using races from four of the all-time best drivers: Richard Petty, Bill Elliot, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt.
Children's author Andrew Gutelle, who has explained the finer techniques of baseball to young readers in several books, defines and describes the colored-flag system, the spinouts, the burning rubber and the drivers' techniques for speed.
The book includes action illustrations by Joel Snyder and photographs of Earnhardt, who was killed in February in a stock car crash. The book is dedicated to "The Intimidator."
Intended for readers in the first through third grades, the paperback book sells for $3.99 and is published by Grosset & Dunlap.
