Jul. 24--It wasn't enough that those galloping gasoline prices put a crimp in our summer travel plans. Now soaring ice cream prices are, too, messing with our summer.

It's to a point where some people have just stopped buying the stuff.

For years, strollers on the Boardwalk of Ocean City, N.J., could stop at Jilly's Ice Cream Factory and get a cone for 99 cents.

Even when competitors' prices were climbing to $2.75 or more, Jilly's took pride in keeping its customers happy with its bargain prices, said co-owner Jody Levchuk.

No longer. A Jilly's cone is now $1.75.
