Jul. 20--Brunswick County supervisors voted 5-0 Wednesday to approve a permit for a proposed power plant near the Ante community but only after rescinding an earlier vote to delay the permit until July 31.

Kinder Morgan Power Co. of Houston proposed building the $300 million natural-gas-fired power plant in southeastern Brunswick County.

Welton Tyler, supervisor for that part of the county, moved to delay action on the permit after concerns were raised about the plant's proposed use of Lake Gaston water and about the plant's impact on residents of Greensville County. A special permit is needed because the plant site is zoned for…
