Aug. 1--Boots, the British health and beauty retailer, has ceased its store expansion in Thailand but is moving to sell some of its products through Tops supermarkets to expand its business.
Boots Retail (Thailand) Co has also downsized its own stores by removing the pharmacy sections.
This year is the first that the firm has suspended opening new stores since its entry to Thailand in 1997.
"We think the current 67 branches of Boots cover all good demographics and customers," said Kevin Sargison, managing director of Boots Retail (Thailand).
However, Boots may open a small number of stores in the future, if suitable locations are available, he said.
Boots' tie-up with Tops supermarkets is modelled on its earlier move to sell Boots products through the Esslunga supermarket chain in Italy.
