Jul. 27--The Palm is used by computer nerds as a secondary device after their desktop or notebook. Therefore, it is very rare that Palm users will use it to surf the Internet.
In contrast, iPAQ comes with a pre-installed Internet Explorer browser and the convenience to add a modem. This may be due to the attempt to make iPAQ the convenient device for all users including first-time buyers.
The Palm user normally synchronises information in the unit like a date book by using a PC and serial cable. The contents downloaded from a web site, mostly e-Book in pdb format, are downloaded into Palm similarly via the cable. However, there was a missing link as Palm users were unable to view web sites in html format. This gave Coola Inc (www.coola.com) an opportunity to fill the gap. By spending a little effort, the web site builder can now offer the content to the palm user. In order to do so, the site builder has to sign up at the Coola web site.
