Jul. 27--NEW TAX STRUCTURE WILL HELP SMALL FIRMS: The Finance Ministry will overhaul the tax system to help promote small and medium-sized enterprises, venture capitalists and new entrepreneurs.
Finance Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said yesterday the revised structure should be completed within one month.
The Customs Department yesterday also announced a new import tax restructuring to help cut production costs of local industries.
A department official said the existing import tax system consisted of five rates with 30 percent as the maximum. One plan calls for rates to be cut to three with a 10 percent maximum.
BURNETT RECRUITS TOP CREATIVE EXECUTIVE: Christen Monge will join Leo Burnett's Bangkok office as its top creative executive in September, while the incumbent, Bhanu Inkawat, will devote full time to the chairman's post beginning next month.
Mr Monge joins the local advertising agency from McCann Erickson in London, where he recently completed a new global campaign for Nestcafe.
Prior to that, as Ogilvy & Mather's executive creative director for Europe, Mr Monge won the Guinness account, creating the acclaimed Rutger Hauer ads and the campaign for Unilever's Impulse, a Cannes Gold Lion winner.
