Aug. 4--Poorly-run hotels are being offered a chance to upgrade their professional management and promote their properties through a course run by College Management, Mahidol University (CMMU).
Although Thailand is heavily promoting tourism, most visitors are not using hotels run by local operators, according to Daniel Fuchs, director of finance, administration and development of CMMU.
During the economic boom, many successful business owners built hotels and hired professional managers. After the crash, they had to run the properties without such help and their businesses suffered.
The course, described as a mini master's programme, is claimed to be the first of its kind for international hospitality management.
