Aug. 2--Recovery or not, entertainment organisers have revived Thailand's partying pulse after four dull years where spending anxieties dampened spirits.
Despite the baht's depreciation and tighter sponsorship budgets, more international concerts and shows are flocking back to Thailand.
Neil Thompson, general manager of BEC-Tero, the country's biggest entertainment organiser, said that the number of shows organised by the firm had increased sharply to at least 10 this year, with a higher target next year.
Before the recession started in 1997, at least 20 international concerts and shows had been organised each year by BEC-Tero. The number plunged in recent years but is now picking up.
"I'm not sure that this has anything to do with the economic situation, but I believe Thais have been through the worst part and have got used to harder times," Mr Thompson said.
More of the most famous acts are performing in Thailand, meaning bigger shows that cost more to stage. Oasis, a leading British rock band, attracted a full house to the Impact arena in Bangkok on Tuesday night.
