Aug. 2--CONCORD, N.C.--A construction company will ask a Superior Court judge this afternoon to block Cabarrus County from awarding a $16 million building contract for a new fairgrounds complex and exposition center.

Welliver McGuire Inc. of Harrisburg contends that county commissioners overstepped their authority July 23 by rejecting all bids -- including Welliver McGuire's low bid -- on one of the county's largest projects in the last decade.
