Aug. 17--A company best known for home delivery of ice cream is biting into a Roswell-based dessert maker.

Schwan's Sales Enterprises of Marshall, Minn., is the new owner of Edwards Fine Foods. Edwards, which makes cakes, pies and other desserts, has about 900 employees nationwide. More than half of those work at facilities around suburban Atlanta, including at two manufacturing plants.

Edwards will keep its name and operate as a subsidiary. The company, with about $200 million in annual sales, sells desserts to restaurants and supermarkets.
