Sep. 7--MEXICO ENDS BAN ON THAI RICE IMPORTS: Mexico is resuming imports of rice from Thailand after an eight-year ban, Thai government authorities said yesterday.
Three Mexican trading companies received permission in July to import 1,238 tons of Thai fragrant rice.
The first order, for 21 tons, was placed with a Thai firm, Wing of Rice, in late July and passed sanitary and rule of origin tests by Mexican authorities.
Mexico imports about 300,000 tons rice a year, mainly from the United States and countries in Latin America.
PTT SHARE DETAILS DUE NEXT MONTH: The Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) says details of its planned share offer were expected to be finalised by early October.
The exact timing of the offer as well as the amount of shares and the sale method would also be concluded next month, said Pichai Chunhavajira, the PTT deputy governor for finance.
"The final decision on whether the share offering will take place November as planned or not will be made by early October with consideration of the market conditions at the time," Mr Pichai told Dow Jones Newswires.
