Sep. 11--One of Austin's longest-lasting public information debates came to a sudden resolution Monday when the City Council voted unanimously to make secret certain information about its electric utility.
The vote followed a week of private negotiations between City Manager Jesus Garza and three council members who had opposed restrictions on releasing Austin Energy's competitive data without a few safeguards. Some of those measures showed up in the final compromise, council members said, encouraging them to approve the rules.
