Sep. 3--A mobile restaurant painted like a spotted dog, with an inhouse karaoke bar, organised tables, clean toilets and chickens on board is giving the term street vendor a new meaning.
The novelty has proved so popular with customers that the owner, rocker Cho Oen, will introduce bus services for tourists, with the vehicles painted like Dalmatian dogs, complete with a mini-bar and other modern conveniences.
Both the restaurants and tour-coach operations may be franchised in the future.
With a strong liking for old things, Cho Oen na Bangchang, 55, a rock star with a band called The Fox, started by turning a 30-year-old bus into a mobile restaurant containing six tables and 20 seats.
"My first idea was to make the bus not only a vehicle for the band to tour in, but also a mobile restaurant to sell food wherever we play. Above all, this restaurant creates jobs for my fellow band members," said Cho Oen.
The bus cost him very little, as most equipment, including paintings, restaurant equipment and the bus itself, were donated by close friends.
