Sep. 3--Phyllis Cook, a former resident of southern New Jersey, heard about Stoudtburg Village, a German-style village in Adamstown, from her son and fell in love with the concept.

A tight-knit community working and living among stucco covered houses with steep, red-shingled roofs, a central plaza and fountain, wrought iron balconies, cobblestone and red-paved walks and a four-story watch tower all harken to a world far away.

Cook has lived there since 1997 and owns Blumen Geschaft.

In the three-story structure she named Das Musik Haus, Kathryn T. Kerchner lives in the upper two stories and has her shop, Kerchner's Antiques, on the first floor. …
