Sep. 8--Chuo Senko, a Japanese advertising agency, will use its Thai unit to expand its business in Southeast Asia.
As part of the move, Chuo Senko (Thailand) Group will take over Chuo Malaysia, now owned by the parent firm in Tokyo, by the end of this year.
Chuo Malaysia has been in operation for 16 years as a representative office. The takeover will help strengthen its operation with the transfer of technology and staff from Thailand.
In addition, the move will serve rising demand for communication services from firms expanding to take advantage of the Asean Free Trade Agreement (Afta).
The office in Malaysia will offer a full communications services for clients from Thailand who want access to Malaysian markets, and also to local clients.
Mitsushige Nakamichi, the president and chief executive of the Thai operation, will spearhead its team to win clients in Malaysia. The firm will invest about five million baht initially and employ 10 people.
