Sep. 21--A consultant for a General Assembly subcommittee says the State Corporation Commission should continue as the independent policeman of utilities, banks, insurance companies and other Virginia businesses.
"My primary recommendation is the [SCC] should remain the primary regulatory body," Dr. Kenneth Button of George Mason University told the subcommittee, which is studying the policies and responsibilities of the SCC.
The panel reviewed the final version of Button's report and reaction to it at a meeting Tuesday.
