With this issue of AutoWeek chock full of tuned trucks and sport/utility vehicles, we'd be remiss if we didn't take a peek at future tuners still in development at the major manufacturers. Here is a handful our spies have spotted in recent weeks:
Chrysler has hinted that a performance-tuned Jeep from the company's Street and Racing Technology shop might be in the works. Judging by these photos of the hot Grand Cherokee SRT on the road, we'd say the project is past the broad hint stage and well on its way to market. Look for the uber Jeep to eschew the marque's legendary off-road prowess, with a lowered suspension and performance-rated tires for superior on-road handling. And yeah, we're pretty sure it's got a Hemi-probably the same 6.1-liter 425-hp, 420-lb-ft V8 under the hood of Chrysler's Pebble Beach beauty (page 18).
