Green Bay _ Coach Mike Sherman is wary of the Washington Redskins, the Green Bay Packers' opponent Monday night at Lambeau Field, for many of the same reasons that retired general manager Ron Wolf was interested in hiring Marty Schottenheimer two years ago.

Schottenheimer is, was and always has been an outstanding football coach.

"I would certainly think they're dangerous," Wolf said of the Redskins Friday from his home in Annapolis, Md. "It wasn't a particularly auspicious start for them but he's one of the top coaches in the game that's active right now. His teams are tremendously disciplined and play tough, hard-nosed football."

Schottenheimer might have been the leading candidate to succeed Ray Rhodes in January 2000 when college coaches Butch Davis of Miami and Barry Alvarez of Wisconsin elected not to pursue …
