Oct. 4--The results of a civil liability inquiry into the central bank executives accused of failure to defend the baht in 1997 will have to be submitted to the Finance Ministry this month, according to Wisudhi Srisuphan, the Comptroller-General, who chaired the investigation.
A delay was caused when the accused were summoned to appear before the panel, Mr Wisudhi said.
They said they did not know what accusations had been made against them, and therefore they were not ready to provide relevant documents to the investigating panel.
Mr Wisudhi two weeks ago told his deputy Supa Piyajitti to invite two former central bank governors, Chaiyawat Wibulswasdi and Rerngchai Marakanond, to appear before the panel.
"The Comptroller General's Department is responsible for investigating civil servants accused of causing damage to the state in over 1,000 cases each year," Mr Wisudhi said.
"These are very difficult burdens for the probe panel. They are either fraudulent or careless acts," he added.
