Oct. 4--ARDMORE, Okla.-- After a barrage of weather-related setbacks and a lengthy wait to replace some lost-at-sea equipment, East Jordan Iron Works officially opened its Oklahoma foundry Tuesday.
The family-owned company, based in East Jordan, Mich., manufactures iron castings including manhole covers, drainage grates and fire hydrants. Their products can be found on streets across the United States and in countries as far away as Egypt.
The foundry employs 71 people. However, company officials said that number should increase to about 140 within two years.
