Dell Likely to Make More Cuts, Wall Street Analyst Says.

Oct. 4--With the outlook for personal computer sales growing increasingly bleak, one Wall Street analyst says Dell Computer Corp. may have to cut costs again in an effort to shore up sagging profits.

That could mean more layoffs for Dell, which has already cut more than 5,000 jobs since January, almost all of which came in Central Texas. "We expect Dell to continue to cut expenses in an effort to maintain solid profitability," David Bailey, an analyst at Gerard Klauer Mattison, wrote in a research note Wednesday.

In two rounds of layoffs -- in February and May -- Dell has cited a need to reduce its work force and expenses in line …
